Actually, that was not such a cold day. For me "very cold" is -25°C, lower than -10°C is "cold", and from 0 to -10°C is "midly cold / slightly below freezing" =) Also, +5 with wind and rain feels much more unpleasant than -5°C with no wind and dry air.

Today the snow is gone, it is raining water, the light is dim as there is hardly any sunlight.

Hey, interesting picture of the wolfram mine. And the fact that you learn to know about it only now - does that mean that people don't talk about the site that much? It is not converted into any kind of tourist attraction or anything... Sounds like a place where Rambo could hide =)
