The area where I live is typical Finnish countryside; a loose network of houses, scattered around without any clear center - except the village center which lies some 14 km away. Today's last massage customer lives near the next village, I drove 20 km to get there. Ten years ago their village center had a supermarket, a hardware store, a bank and a school. Now they have this countryside pub, which serves food and beer and has a small kiosk for basic groceries. But they still have that, and I somehow have a special sympathy towards these unique odd small restaurant-pubs. (I remember that in some earlier picture of the day I was dreaming about sailing up and down the Finnish lake networks, occasionally stopping at places like this. For this particular pub in the picture is a short walking distance away from the nearest quay. And today I was also dreaming about a small roadtrip, just driving half-aimlessly criss-crossing the countryside looking for places like this... Hehe, if I get to do something like this I promise to post travel diaries =) )
