After today's work I went to check the fish traps at the Takalahti bay. The swan couple was there again, as they've been the previous springs, too. Last spring they always flew away as soon as they detected me moving in the bushes, but not this time. On the contrary, they swam a little closer to take a better look, as I was stalking pikes I saw splashing in the foliage. Well, the pikes were always two metres away, I couldn't sneak close enough to try catch 'em. But I spotted them being active here and there, so I think the season has begun, the first ones have arrived at the shallows of the Takalahti bay. The first trap was empty, the other one had a young pike in it. I decided to set her free - the situation might be different in the weekend, if I don't do any shopping, I'll be running low on food and will need to keep anything I manage to catch.
