Several weeks ago the chainsaw engine died. At first I hoped it was just a sparking plug failure, but replacing the plug didn't fix it. That created kind of a bottle-neck; I have a heap of those log-sized tree trunks on my yard, and it would be extremely time-consuming to cut them manually with a bow-saw. About a week ago I finally visited a store which both sells and repairs chainsaws, lawnmowers etc. The guy took a quick look at my old chainsaw, and found it had suffered from overheating - so fixing it would cost more than buying a new one. I talked a little with the guy and learned that working with log-sized trees I actually need at least a 500€ saw, as the cheap ones (starting from 200€) aren't powerful enough. And my previous saw was one of those low-end models, so no wonder it overheated as I had been straining it with too heavy work. Uh oh - and I haven't yet managed to completely rebalance my budget after buying a car. But there has been this calm voice in the back of my mind; "things will work out", and I decided to invest in a chainsaw. A professional-grade saw which usually costs 550€ was on discount with a price tag of 400€. I bought one. Now, I must say that it is a pleasure to work with a brand-new powerful chainsaw, there certainly is a difference compared to my old saw.
