The weather today, and the forecast says that it will be snowing also in the coming days. I've already seen some people on my facebook feed telling how they are not happy about this. Well, I'm not here to tell what other people should feel or think, but in my personal experience there are two central points to this: First, this is perfectly normal, what else could one expect for early April weather? In my childhood it often happened that there was a few days of intense snowing in mid-may, when grass is already green and flowers blossoming. Now it is not mid-May, it is early April and this is the way Spring happens in Finland, so why be surprised when the normal thing takes place? Second; weather is something which just happens, no matter if we like it or not. So I think this is one of the clear examples of benefits of some sort of Stoic / Zen attitude; if you can't affect it, just accept it. Wishing the weather to be different appears as a just another way to ruin ones own mood. Oh well, oh well. But, migratory birds keep on singing, there are the usual signs of summer approaching. Sure thing. Although, this time there are also signs that the summer might not come as usual, for it is also possible that we will have a nuclear winter instead. I don't know if that is something which just "happens" without humans being able to affect it in some way. Hello Kreml, is there anyone home there? Can you affect your own decisions, or is it just a train which keeps rolling? Well, whatever happens, it happens. At my current location today is a good day to be alive. I wish well for all those human beings who find themselves in a less favorable conditions. Also, I wish well for the entire planet, and the biosphere as a whole. I'm sure the planet can be healthy without us humans, but our little lives entirely depend of the planet being healthy. So, if we have any desire to survive, the time to make a change is now. Now.
