The brownish part in the background is a piece of ginger root which I planted in a flower pot, maybe six or seven months ago. What is in my hand is the fresh growth of the season. I think I'll try to split the fresh growth to three pieces, and plant all of them around the turn of the year, to see if I can grow more of ginger.
